frequent questions

What kind of therapy do you provide?

Trained in both short-term and long-term therapies, I take an eclectic approach, drawing on the theories and techniques that are most relevant to each client’s individual struggles.

How long and how frequent are therapy sessions? How long does therapy last?

Each session is 60 minutes. Sessions generally are once per week, but may be more often if a client is in crisis or needs more intensive treatment. How long therapy lasts depends on the problems presented and a client’s goals – whether, for example, we are working on problem-solving, building skills to manage difficult emotions, or learning how to communicate with a spouse or children, or whether we are digging deeper to promote insight and self-understanding or to heal the effects of trauma.

Do you take insurance?

I take BlueCross BlueShield PPO, Cigna, Magellan, and Medicare. For all other health insurance companies, I can provide the necessary paperwork so that you can receive out-of-network benefits.

Do you prescribe medication?

Only a medical doctor can prescribe medications. If needed, I can provide referrals to local psychiatrists, and I am happy to work with them to ensure coordinated and effective care.
